News April 1, 2021

Wycombe Wanderers welcome Blackburn Rovers to Adams Park on Good Friday, as they go head to head in the Championship.

This will be just the second meeting between the two sides, with the first coming earlier this season.

The reverse fixture was a disappointing one for The Chairboys as they came out on the end of a 5-0 thrashing.

How will tomorrow’s game play out?

Wycombe Wycombe Team News & Injuries

It looks as if there aren’t any new injury concerns for Gareth Ainsworth with everyone coming through the last game unscathed.

Blackburn Rovers Team News & Injuries

Tony Mowbray will have almost a full squad to choose from, with Adam Armstrong, Lewis Travis and Jacob Davenport all available to play.

Wycombe Wanderers Form

Ainsworth’s side entered the international break on the back of a 0-0 draw away to Coventry.

They’ve not been great all season, but with four losses, one win and a draw in their last six, Wycombe find themselves 22nd in the form table.

Their recent record is quite good, though, having won two of their last four games at Adams Park.

Blackburn Rovers Form

Rovers would have been pleased entering the international break after earning a point away to league leaders Norwich City.

They started the season quite well but have been quite average since. They have drawn three, lost two and won once in their last six, meaning they sit in 16th place in the form table.

Blackburn are unbeaten in their last two on the road, however, they lost the previous four away games.

Our Picks For Wyc Picks – Wycombe Wanderers V Blackburn Rovers

In Focus

1. Will Wycombe Wanderers score? Yes

The Chairboys failed to find the net in their last game, however, they scored exactly one goal in their two games prior.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see them doing it again either, having scored just one goal in over half their home games this campaign.

The visitors have kept six clean sheets from 19 games on the road, so they don’t have the worse defensive record.

With 21 goals conceded from those matches, they are currently averaging 1.11 goals against per away game.

2. Will Wycombe Wanderers score in the first half? No

Just two of Wycombe’s last seven goals have come in the first half, and it’s not too surprising looking at their record this campaign.

They have found the net just five times from 19, which is an average of 0.26 goals scored per first 45 minutes at home.

On the other hand, Blackburn have kept a clean sheet in the first period in 63% of their games on the road this season.

3. Will Wycombe Wanderers score in the second half? Yes

As previously mentioned, five of Wycombe’s seven goals have come in the second half.

They don’t score in the closing 45 minutes often, though. They have scored in the second 45 minutes in just 37% of their home games this campaign.

The thing is, Blackburn have conceded 13 goals from 19, which is an average of 0.68 goals against per second half on the road.

4. How many shots on target will Wycombe Wanderers have? 3

The Chairboys don’t tend to test opposition goalkeepers too frequently, which shows in their goals scored tally.

They have had 116 attempts on goal so far this campaign, which is an average of 3.05 shots on target per game.

Thomas Kaminski has been the go to man to play between the sticks for Blackburn this season.

In the 35 games he’s played, he’s faced 112 attempts on his goal, averaging 3.2 shots on target against per 90.

5. How many corners will Wycombe Wanderers be awarded? 3

Wycombe won just the two corners last time out, meaning they have now won 159 of them this season. That’s an average of 4.18 awarded per game.

From the 38 games that Ainsworth’s side have played, they have won four or more corners in 23 of them.

In the reverse fixture back in September, The Chairboys managed to win just two corners all game.

6. Will Wycombe Wanderers concede a goal? Yes

Ainsworth will be hoping it won’t be anything like the reverse fixture, with Blackburn sticking five past Ryan Allsop.

They do have a better defensive record at home though, keeping six clean sheets at Adams Park this campaign.

However, they have still conceded 24 goals from 19 matches, which is an average of 1.26 goals against per home game.

As well as that, Blackburn have scored in two thirds of their away games this season.
