Wycombe Wanderers welcome Bristol City to Adams Park tonight as they go head to head in the Championship.

Tom Pearce, Wyc Picks predictor (@tompearce97)

This will be the 22nd meeting between the two sides, the first coming in 1995, with the game ending as a 0-0 draw.

They haven’t played each other too often recently, having met just three times in the last 16 years.

It was City who came out winners in the reverse fixture, scoring in the final few minutes to win the game 2-1.

How will tonight’s game play out, though?

Wycombe Wanderers Form

Gareth Ainsworth’s side let a 2-0 lead slip in the last 10 minutes as they drew 2-2 away to Swansea at the weekend.

That meant they had picked up eight points from their last six games and now find themselves in 11th in the form table.

Wycombe have been very inconsistent at home recently as well, with their results alternating between wins and losses.

Bristol City Form

Despite playing with 10 men for 70 minutes, Bristol City rescued a point in the last few minutes as they drew 1-1 away to Sheffield Wednesday.

They are in terrible form coming into this game, accumulating just three points from six. That means they currently sit in bottom place in the form table.

They have failed to win in any of their last three games on the road, drawing two and losing once.

Our Picks For Wyc Picks – Wycombe Wanderers V Bristol City

In Focus

1. Will Wycombe Wanderers beat Bristol City? No

Despite Bristol City’s very poor form, it still won’t be an easy task for Wycombe to pick up all three points.

The Chairboys, however, will be fighting for everything tonight which will make it an interesting match-up.

2. Will Wycombe Wanderers score in the first half? Yes

Wycombe were going into half time two goals to the good at the weekend, and they may well score in the opening 45 tonight.

They really haven’t done it often, though, having scored in the first period in just 29% of their home games.

The thing is, City have conceded 17 goals from 21, which is an average of 0.81 goals against per second half on the road.

3. Will Wycombe Wanderers score in the second half? No

Wycombe have struggled to score goals this season and have scored in both halves in just 5% of their home games.

They’ve scored just eight goals from 21, which means they’re averaging 0.38 goals against per second period at home.

As well as that, Bristol City have kept a clean sheet in the second half in 52% of their games on the road this campaign.

4. How many goals will Wycombe Wanderers score? 1

Ainsworth’s men scored two last time out, however it would be a surprise to see them repeat that tonight.

What wouldn’t be a surprise, would for them to score exactly twice. That’s because they have done so in 56% of their home games this season.

The Robins have struggled to keep the ball out of their net, especially when they play on the road.

With just four clean sheets and 32 goals conceded from 21 matches, they are averaging 1.52 goals against per away game.

5. How many goals will Wycombe Wanderers concede? 1

Wycombe will need to make sure they stay switched on for 90 minutes tonight after Saturday’s game.

They have a decent defensive record at Adams Park this campaign as well, keeping seven clean sheets from 21 games.

The thing is, it’s not often that Bristol City shoot blanks when they play away from home.

In fact, they have scored exactly one goal in 24% of their games on the road this season.

6. How many shots on target will Wycombe Wanderers have? 4+

The Chairboys had 15 shots against Swansea on Saturday, testing Freddie Woodman with five of them.

They have now hit the target 132 times this campaign, averaging 3.14 shots on goal per 90 minutes.

Daniel Bentley has been Bristol City’s go-to man between the sticks, playing all but two of their league games this season.

In those 40 appearances, he has faced 159 attempts on his goal. That’s an average of 3.97 shots on target against per game.

  • How many goals will Garath McCleary score? 0
  • Will Uche Ikpeazu assist a goal? No
  • How many goals will Admiral Muskwe score? 0
  • Will Fred Onyedinma assist a goal? No
